What is the Benefit of Functional Blood Chemistry analysis?

Functional blood chemistry analysis is a different approach to assessing lab tests. Beyond understanding the traditionally recommended ranges for individual markers, the functional blood chemistry interpretation is devoted to understanding “patterns” within blood chemistry and optimal ranges that prevent disease and maintain good health.

When interpreting blood chemistry lab results, there is a Functional Range and a Pathological Range (shown on most blood reports). Test values that fall between the Functional Range and the Pathological Range are considered sub clinical and can indicate the beginning stages of disease. They should be used as markers and the basis for a treatment plan that will prevent a more serious medical condition from occurring.

What the Options for Conducting a Functional Blood Chemistry analysis?

There are a few options:

1. Using your own recent blood test (within last 6 months), Dr. Lin can conduct a functional assessment of your blood chemistry and meet with you to discuss. This includes a summary of her findings, recommended changes to your treatment approach and specific supplements that may be helpful. This includes a 45-minute in-person consultation.

2. If you do not have a recent blood test, she would also conduct a “Comprehensive Bio-Screen Lab Test”. This is a comprehensive blood chemistry panel and urinalysis administered by Principal Labs and LabCorp to help evaluate the health status of our patients. This test is done at the LabCorp office of your choice.  The Comprehensive Bio-Screen Test and the Functional Blood Chemistry assessment includes a 45-minute in-person consultation.
